In a swift response, the Indian Air Force deployed a Dornier aircraft on February 23 to urgently transport a team of doctors from the Army Hospital in New Delhi to Pune. The mission’s primary objective was to retrieve a liver promptly and save the life of an army veteran. The IAF highlighted the critical nature of the mission, emphasizing its execution on short notice.
The IAF statement reads, “An IAF Dornier aircraft was activated at short notice to airlift a team of doctors of Army Hospital (R&R), to retrieve a liver from Pune to Delhi during the night on 23 February.”
Following the successful airlift, the transplant surgery took place, ultimately contributing to the life-saving intervention for the army veteran. The Army Hospital (Research And Referral), commonly known as Army Hospital (R&R), holds significance as the premier medical care center in the Delhi Cantonment area, catering to the healthcare needs of armed forces personnel and their families.
