Amidst the vibrant streets of New Delhi, Air India is poised to inaugurate direct flights bound for Zurich, commencing on the 16th of June. This endeavor marks the airline’s endeavor to broaden its European reach, adding Zurich as the seventh city on its roster of non-stop destinations.
The flight schedule entails four weekly services, all orchestrated aboard a Boeing 787 aircraft, outfitted with a dual-class configuration encompassing Economy and Business sections. Departures are slated for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, as delineated in an official statement released on a Friday.
Campbell Wilson, the CEO and MD of Air India, articulated, “Given the substantial presence of over 250 Swiss enterprises in India, coupled with a plethora of Indian firms in Switzerland, and an expatriate community numbering nearly 18,000, these flights are poised to satiate a burgeoning demand for both corporate engagements and recreational voyages, spanning both directions.”
Presently, the carrier orchestrates an array of 60 weekly flights traversing six principal cities across mainland Europe, namely Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, and Vienna.
The proclamation further accentuated, “The advent of Air India’s latest service will furnish Swiss travelers, alongside those hailing from southern Germany and western Austria, with an uninterrupted conduit to New Delhi, and onward expeditions to various destinations dotting Air India’s burgeoning flight network, particularly across the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia.”
This strategic initiative unfolds subsequent to Air India’s transition from governmental administration to the stewardship of the Tata Group in the year 2022, a transition that culminated in the restoration of services linking the realms of Switzerland and India.
