Air India revealed on Saturday its selection of SIA Engineering Company Limited as its strategic collaborator for the enhancement of its core maintenance amenities in this locale. As an element of this alliance, Air India will engage in close coordination with SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) concerning the blueprinting, establishment, progression, and operationalization of its core maintenance amenities in this area, as articulated.
In a declaration, Air India expressed, “Anticipated to be operational by 2026, the amenities will encompass both extensive-body and slender-body hangars, alongside accompanying repair ateliers, to cater to the burgeoning Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) prerequisites of the aviation fleet within Air India Group.”
“The collaboration with SIA Engineering Company will not solely facilitate Air India in achieving greater self-sufficiency for the maintenance of its own fleet but also underscores our pledge to fortify India’s aviation infrastructure by fostering the advancement of the nation’s MRO sector,” Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, conveyed.
Air India had formerly disclosed its intention to institute state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) amenities at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (managed by Bangalore International Airport Ltd) commencing with airframe maintenance, proceeding through the establishment of extensive-body and slender-body aircraft hangars for all inspections.
