Google, the tech giant that revolutionized the way we search for information, has further elevated the search experience for its Indian users. In a bid to offer more relevant and engaging results, Google has enhanced its Search Generative Experience (SGE) in India. This development was announced at the Google for India 2023 event held on Thursday.
A More Visual and Localized Search
The latest improvements to SGE bring a visual and localized touch to the search experience. Google aims to provide users with richer and more visual content. Now, when you search for queries like “what are the various ways to drape a saree?” SGE will present a more visual and user-friendly AI-powered overview, complete with images and videos showcasing various draping styles.
Not stopping there, SGE is also going local. Users can now receive location-specific responses. Whether you want to discover what a city has to offer or explore nearby attractions, SGE incorporates user reviews to provide detailed and useful information.
Access to Government Schemes Made Easy
In the coming weeks, Google will simplify access to information about over 100 government schemes in areas such as healthcare, housing, employment, women’s welfare, farming, and more. This invaluable information will be available in both Hindi and English languages, ensuring it reaches a wider audience.
A Clearer Vision with Google Lens
Google is expanding the capabilities of Google Lens, allowing users to search for information about skin conditions they observe. Users can snap a picture of a skin condition, and Google Lens will provide visual matches for more information. This feature is set to be a game-changer for those looking for quick and accurate information about their health.
Google Pay: More Options, More Convenience
Google Pay is not left behind in this wave of enhancements. The popular digital payments app is partnering with ePayLater to offer a credit line for merchants. Additionally, they are introducing sachet loans starting as low as Rs. 15,000 in collaboration with DMI Finance. On the consumer side, Axis Bank is making its personal loans available on Google Pay, and more banks are expected to follow suit. Users can now easily access credit lines from banks for payments via Google Pay, making transactions more convenient.
Elevating the Shopping Experience
For all the shoppers out there, Google is making your life easier. They have improved the shopping experience on their site by offering a more visual feed of products with filters. So, when you search for something like “Best phone under Rs. 15,000” on Google Search, you’ll now see a visual display of products to explore, helping you find the product you’re looking for quickly and effortlessly.
YouTube: An Immersive News Experience
YouTube, a Google-owned platform, is also undergoing a transformation. A new immersive watch page for news is on the horizon, pulling content from credible sources. This feature will be available in 11 Indian languages, starting in Q4 2023, giving users access to trustworthy news in their preferred language.
Google’s commitment to enhancing the search experience in India is evident through these exciting updates. Users can look forward to a more visual, localized, and user-friendly search experience, making it easier to find the information and products they need. These improvements reaffirm Google’s dedication to serving its Indian audience better than ever before.
