In a scathing rebuke on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh’s Premier Yogi Adityanath lambasted the Congress for purportedly entertaining the notion of implementing a form of legacy, likening it to an encroachment of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s essence into the venerable political entity. He equated the proposed inheritance levy to the historical imposition of the ‘jizya’ tax during Aurangzeb’s reign.
Delivering a fervent address at a gathering in Malegaon, nestled within Maharashtra’s Nashik region, Adityanath underscored the BJP’s electoral mission, framing it not solely as a quest for governance but as a pursuit of a more evolved India. “Let there be no uncertainty: Narendra Modi is poised for a return as the nation’s leader,” Adityanath proclaimed with conviction. “The inheritance tax mirrors the jizya tax enforced by Aurangzeb. The spectral vestige of Aurangzeb has found a haven within the Congress,” Adityanath remarked pointedly.
Historically, the jizya levy targeted non-Muslim constituents under Aurangzeb’s dominion. The construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Adityanath contended, encapsulates the aspirations of India’s vast populace, with Lord Ram serving as a bulwark against any opposition faction seeking to desecrate the sacred edifice. He cited the precedent of pre-2014 unrest preceding Hindu festivities.
“To those who espouse pro-Pakistani sentiments, I urge them to seek solace across the border. India reserves no quarter for those who extol the virtues of that nation,” Adityanath declared emphatically.
