“Lucknow witnessed the pointed finger of Samajwadi Party leader, Akhilesh Yadav, denouncing the BJP-led NDA government at the helm for wielding technology as a blunt instrument against the backdrop of agrarian protests. Yadav, on Friday, leveled accusations of electoral bond misuse against the BJP, decrying their tactics.

The utilization of technology by the BJP government, according to Akhilesh, has reached unprecedented levels globally, particularly pointing to reports suggesting the deployment of drones by security forces to disperse teargas during farmer protests. The question he posed was a poignant one – is this the ethical application of technology?

He affirmed the farmers’ plea for legislation supporting Minimum Support Price (MSP) as justifiable. The agrarians find themselves compelled to vend their produce at a profit margin significantly lower than previous earnings. Escalating costs of fertilizers, seeds, and ancillary inputs, coupled with stagnant crop prices, form the bedrock of their discontent. The profound reduction in income and profit margins, a consequence of BJP government policies, serves as the catalyst for their fervent protests.

Akhilesh scrutinized the BJP’s handling of electoral bonds, painting a picture deeply steeped in corruption. The recent Supreme Court verdict on electoral bonds, in his view, injected momentum into the ongoing farmer’s uprising. He prophesied a hindrance for those funneling substantial clandestine donations to the BJP, aiming to encroach upon the agricultural sector. The time, according to him, has come to unveil the BJP’s nefarious practice of soliciting funds from the affluent to hatch conspiracies against the farming community and laborers. He expressed condolences for the demise of Sardar Gyan Singh, a farmer involved in the protests, at Shambhu border.”
