In Kannauj, located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav officially submitted his nomination papers for the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat on Thursday. Accompanying him were notable figures such as SP leader Professor Ram Gopal, former cabinet minister Usha Verma, and Amitabh Bajpayee. Akhilesh, the erstwhile Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the offspring of the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, embarked on this electoral journey with their support.
Post his nomination submission, Akhilesh voiced his optimism, proclaiming that the essence of Kannauj would dismantle the realm of animosity in politics. Reflecting on the delayed decision to enter the electoral fray, Akhilesh metaphorically stated that actions should be taken opportunistically.
The SP chief pointed fingers at the BJP, alleging their involvement in propagating political acrimony and favoring affiliated entrepreneurs. He noted a shift in the rhetoric of BJP leaders following his declaration to contest from Kannauj.
Responding to BJP candidate and MP Subrata Pathak’s remark about Kannauj becoming a battleground akin to an India-Pakistan cricket match, Akhilesh retorted that he wouldn’t participate in such theatrics. He metaphorically expressed confidence in his socialist ideology, asserting that they would excel from the outset.
Akhilesh further criticized the BJP’s tax policies, highlighting the exploitation of loopholes post the implementation of GST. He reiterated his confidence in the victory of the INDIA bloc and the eventual demise of hateful politics.
Reflecting on the developmental projects undertaken during the SP regime in Kannauj, Akhilesh boasted about the construction of top-tier road infrastructure.
In response to inquiries, Akhilesh hinted at the imminent visits of other political figures to Kannauj, including Rahul Gandhi.
Akhilesh Yadav’s announcement of his candidacy came a day before his formal declaration. Previously, he had nominated his nephew, Tej Pratap Yadav, as a candidate.
