In the precincts of Ghazipur, a newborn female was discovered, forsaken in proximity to the esteemed Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s memorial during the early hours of Saturday. Speculation arises that scarcely after childbirth, a mother, enwrapping her offspring in cloth, left the infant in solitude.
Located adjacent to the Mardah bus depot along the Varanasi-Gorakhpur National Highway, the infant was unearthed near a confectionery and teahouse. Without delay, the local populace, upon discovery, promptly notified law enforcement and the nearby Home Guard contingent.
Subsequently, the infant girl was conveyed to the Mardah police precinct and placed under the care of a female constable. Swiftly thereafter, she was expedited to the District Women’s Hospital for further attention. Reportedly, custody of the infant was transferred to the Child Welfare authorities from thereon.
Officer-in-Charge, Dharmendra Pandey, attested that the newborn was situated within a receptacle upon discovery. This incident of infant abandonment has incited myriad conjectures and queries concerning the mother’s circumstances, yet the underlying rationale remains elusive.
