In Bijnor’s Jhalu township, a cataclysmic explosion in a firecracker manufacturing unit resulted in one fatality and left at least five laborers grievously wounded on Sunday.
The catastrophe transpired within the factory premises along Gangoda road. Witnesses recounted a colossal detonation that ensued, enshrouding the vicinity in an ominous cloud of smoke and flames.
Startled by the deafening blast, inhabitants from neighboring hamlets converged on the scene, struggling mightily to subdue the conflagration before notifying the authorities. Upon receiving reports of the calamity, Haldaur law enforcement officials and SP City personnel promptly arrived to assess the devastation.
Law enforcement retrieved the body of a deceased individual from the wreckage and transported several injured workers to the closest medical facility. The deceased was identified as Amit Kumar, hailing from Gopalpur village, who perished instantaneously, while at least five others sustained injuries.
SP City Sanjeev Vajpayee disclosed that the firecracker factory was officially registered, yet the precise cause of the explosion remains under scrutiny. He suggested that the blast might have been triggered by an abrupt spark during the morning’s cleaning operations. “A forensic team is also present. Our investigation is ongoing. The injured are currently receiving medical treatment,” he stated.
