In a rally supporting BJP candidate Jyotiraditya Scindia in Guna Lok Sabha constituency, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the Congress manifesto, drawing parallels between its proposals and the rule of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Adityanath accused the Congress of advocating policies reminiscent of Aurangzeb’s reign, such as the imposition of ‘jizya’ (a tax historically imposed on non-Muslims) and promoting cow slaughter. He linked these proposals to Congress’s alleged intentions to appease its vote bank and accused the party of wanting to curtail quota benefits for marginalized communities.
Adityanath hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for respecting heritage, bringing welfare schemes for the poor, and honoring the country. He contrasted Modi’s approach with Congress’s purported plan to levy taxes on ancestral wealth, which he likened to ‘jizya’. Adityanath also criticized Rahul Gandhi’s proposal of an inheritance tax, dubbing it ‘virasat tax’, and accused Congress of wanting to divert quota benefits to its vote bank.
Furthermore, Adityanath alleged that Congress aims to allow cow slaughter, contrasting it with the sentiments of the majority community. He questioned whether Indians would accept such policies, particularly in the land associated with Ram and Krishna. Adityanath praised Modi’s administration for addressing terrorism and Naxalism and emphasized the importance of national security.
Additionally, he highlighted the historical contributions of the Scindia family, particularly their fight against Afghans, and praised Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia’s involvement in the Ram Temple movement and nation-building. Union Minister Scindia, addressing the gathering, listed development works in Guna and warned of action against corruption and the land mafia post-elections.
The rally took place ahead of the upcoming polls in Guna on May 7.
