In a recent incident of caste-centric brutality unfolding in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, a horde subjected a Dalit youngster to ruthless physical assault, compelling him to bow his nose to their footwear on February 8. The BNP Police officially filed a case on February 19, 11 days post the event, implicating seven young culprits in this particular affair.

While authorities have apprehended three individuals connected to the incident, four perpetrators remain at large. Sources suggest that the outbreak of violence stemmed from a financial dispute. The incident, captured on video, has gained traction across various social media platforms, eliciting a profound reaction from the local populace.

The victim, hailing from Ujjain, is identified as Ramsingh Makwana. Following public outcry, a formal grievance was lodged against the seven wrongdoers at the BNP Police Station.

Makwana received an invitation to a roadside motel on the pretext of celebrating a friend’s birthday, orchestrated by the accused, Shubham, and his accomplices. Under the influence of intoxicants, Shubham falsely accused Makwana of engaging in criminal activities and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh. Derogatory language and verbal abuse were also employed by Shubham.

Sampat Upadhyay, the Superintendent of Police in Dewas, asserted that such malefactors would not escape consequences, affirming that appropriate measures would be taken against them. The registered case falls under relevant sections of the SC-ST Act.

The victim, Makwana, vehemently denied any financial dealings with Shubham and his associates. According to Makwana, he had formed a friendship with Shubham around six months prior. When the ransom was rebuffed, they launched a vicious assault, inflicting injuries and insults. Makwana added, “They even vandalized my phone and pilfered my jewelry.”
