In Gonda, located in Uttar Pradesh, tragedy struck as two young individuals perished and a woman sustained injuries in the aftermath of a collision involving a vehicle purportedly associated with the procession of BJP aspirant Karan Bhushan Singh from Kaiserganj. Karan Singh, scion of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the incumbent Kaiserganj MP and erstwhile Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) head, was at the helm.

The alleged perpetrator, the driver, has been apprehended, while the wounded have been transported to a medical facility. Law enforcement officers have been deployed to maintain order in the vicinity. Narrating the sequence of events, Kernalganj Station House Officer Nirbhay Narayan Singh detailed how Rehan Khan (17) and Shehzad Khan (20), riding a motorcycle, were tragically struck near a school, resulting in their untimely demise. The SUV responsible for the collision veered off course, also colliding with Sita Devi (60), who was walking along the roadside, subsequently requiring hospitalization.

Lavkush Srivastav (30), the accused driver, is now in custody, as confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police Radhey Shyam Rai. Local residents have leveled allegations against the SUV’s involvement in the accident, connecting it to Karan Singh’s convoy for the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency. Further accusations suggest the occupants abandoned the damaged vehicle, fleeing in another car.

Incensed by the incident, community members, alongside the victims’ kin, staged a roadblock, demanding justice for those affected. Senior law enforcement officials intervened, pledging swift action to address the grievances. The BJP has designated Karan Singh as its parliamentary nominee for the Kaiserganj constituency, succeeding his father amid legal woes stemming from allegations of misconduct towards female wrestlers. Autopsies are pending for the deceased, with plans underway to file a First Information Report against the SUV driver, as reiterated by the SHO.
