Exploring Uttar Pradesh: Unveiling the Least Populated Districts

Uttar Pradesh, a prominent state in North India, stands as one of the largest states in the country, covering an extensive area of 243,286 square kilometers. It proudly houses a remarkable 75 districts and 18 divisions, making it the state with the highest number of districts in India.

Demographics and Census:

As per the 2011 census, Uttar Pradesh boasts the highest population among all states in India, with a staggering count of 169,812,341 individuals. Its easternmost district is Ballia, while Shamli claims the westernmost position. Further north lies Saharanpur, and to the south rests the district of Sonbhadra.

Least Populated Districts in Uttar Pradesh:

Let’s delve into the lesser-known aspects of Uttar Pradesh, specifically exploring the districts with the lowest populations.

Mahoba District:

Mahoba district takes precedence as the least populated district in Uttar Pradesh. Recorded in the 2011 census, it housed a population of 875,958. Nestled in Bundelkhand, Mahoba holds historical significance, having served as the former capital of Bundelkhand.

Chitrakoot District:

Securing the second spot in terms of low population is Chitrakoot district. The total population here was noted as 991,657 in the 2011 census. This district in Uttar Pradesh holds profound cultural, historical, religious, and archaeological significance. Known as the city of temples, it’s believed that Lord Shri Ram spent 11 years of his exile in Chitrakoot, earning it the moniker of Shri Ram’s land of deeds.

Hamirpur District:

The census of 2011 highlighted Hamirpur district as the third least populated district in Uttar Pradesh, hosting a total population of 1,104,021. Spanning an area of 4,121 square kilometers, this district is situated at the confluence of the Yamuna and Betwa rivers. It boasts prominent temples like Singheshwar Temple, Chauradevi Temple, Shri Satta Baba Temple, and Mehra Baba Temple.
