In a striking twist of fate within Meerut, a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, a university lecturer’s purported endeavor to end his life, which he allegedly planned to broadcast on Facebook Live, was thwarted by law enforcement after a prompt from Meta. This incident transpired in the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station, where tensions stemming from marital discord between the lecturer and his spouse purportedly escalated to a dire climax. Local sources suggest that the discord prompted the woman to seek refuge at her parental abode.

Overwhelmed by distress and appearing despondent, the lecturer, whose identity remains concealed, opted to publicize his suicidal intentions through a live stream on Facebook. This action drew the attention of Meta’s headquarters in California, USA, the corporate entity overseeing Facebook.

Upon observing the distressing broadcast, Meta promptly notified the headquarters of the Uttar Pradesh Police, triggering a swift response from local law enforcement agencies. In a matter of moments, personnel from the Civil Lines Police station and the Government Railway Police (GRP) mobilized, meticulously tracking the lecturer’s movements through the real-time location data provided by his mobile device.

Despite initial uncertainty regarding the lecturer’s precise whereabouts, effective coordination among various law enforcement units ultimately culminated in his rescue in Partapur. GRP inspector Vinod lauded the seamless cooperation between the Meerut Police and GRP, underscoring the efficiency with which they addressed the situation. Vinod noted that within a mere seven minutes of receiving the alert, they successfully pinpointed the lecturer’s live location.

Upon reaching the lecturer, police officers engaged him in dialogue, persuading him to forsake his suicidal intentions. While the exact nature of the dispute with his spouse remains undisclosed, authorities are actively endeavoring to mediate between the estranged couple.
