Barabanki : Thirty-one individuals were afflicted with illness after partaking in a meal at a Mundan ceremony in Barabanki, as disclosed by officials on Saturday.
Chief medical officer, Dr. Awadhesh Yadav, reported that the 31 affected individuals were admitted to CHC Ramsanehighat with suspected foodborne ailments. “It is surmised that the illness stemmed from ingesting tainted food. Symptoms included vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. They are presently under medical supervision and are stable,” Yadav noted.
The Mundan ceremony took place at the residence of Rahul Rawat in the village of Sadullapur Majre Bhojpur, within the purview of Ramsanehighat police jurisdiction on Friday. A considerable gathering of relatives and neighbors attended the event. Later that evening, post-Mundan activities concluded, attendees dined on ‘puri-subjee’ and pulses, which had been prepared two days prior.
As night fell, numerous individuals, particularly the youth and the elderly, began experiencing abdominal discomfort. Many proceeded to vomit, while a few suffered from diarrhea.
The sudden onset of illness stirred anxiety among the attendees, as more individuals succumbed to the malaise. All affected were transported to CHC, and the patient count at the facility steadily rose. Faced with the surge in cases, medical staff promptly mobilized to manage the situation.
CHC in-charge Amresh Verma confirmed that 31 individuals were admitted with symptoms indicative of foodborne afflictions. He reassured that all patients are currently in stable condition, and medical intervention is ongoing.
