In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a woman lodged a grievance against her spouse hailing from California, USA. Allegedly, he coerced her into engaging in intimate relations with his acquaintances in exchange for securing permanent residency in the foreign country.

The woman, beset by distress and fatigue, found herself ailing both mentally and physically. Fleeing from her ordeal, she returned to Meerut and lodged a formal complaint against her husband and his relatives for subjecting her to deliberate physical and mental torment.

According to her allegations, the husband, a senior medical practitioner, resided in a prestigious enclave in the Thana Civil Lines locality of Meerut. The woman asserted that she entered wedlock with him in Shastri Nagar, Delhi, on July 14, 2019, with the marriage being officially documented on July 18.

Her family had expended a sum of Rs 40 lakh on the nuptials. However, shortly after the wedding, her in-laws demanded an additional Rs 1 crore to procure a residence. Upon refusal to comply with their demands, the father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law purportedly initiated a campaign of harassment against her.

Plagued by the mistreatment from her in-laws, the aggrieved woman beseeched her husband to accompany her to the United States. Initially rebuffed, he eventually relented under pressure from his parents. They arrived in California, USA, on March 11, 2020, whereupon he promptly arranged for one of his acquaintances to become their cohabitant.

The wife alleged that her husband aspired to partake in spousal exchanges akin to some of his peers. He even compelled her to attire herself in alluring garments contrary to traditional Indian attire.

When she resisted, her husband coerced her into participating in such activities. On March 25, 2020, while the husband was away procuring medication, his associate purportedly visited their abode and engaged in lewd conduct.

Subsequently, the husband invited this acquaintance for dinner and pressurized his wife into engaging in intercourse with him. The woman claimed that her husband asserted she would secure American citizenship if she acceded to his friend’s advances.

The woman’s health deteriorated under the strain of her husband’s persistent harassment, prompting her to implore him to permit her return to Meerut. Superintendent Of Police, Ayush Vikram Singh, confirmed that a case has been lodged at the Civil Lines Police Station, with investigations underway to gather evidence. He affirmed, “The accused husband and his relatives will be apprehended in due course.”
