In a public address at Lesliganj in Palamu for the BJP’s Chatra Lok Sabha constituency, Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya proclaimed the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections as profoundly momentous. He articulated that these elections hold the potential to unfurl the national flag in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and instate the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Maurya, amidst a gathering of BJP constituents, underscored the anticipated triumph of the NDA, envisaging a sweeping victory of over 400 parliamentary seats. Foretelling the allocation of all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh and all 14 in Jharkhand to the NDA, he accentuated the paramount significance of the upcoming electoral mandate. He emphasized that securing victory in the polls is instrumental in realizing the aspirations encapsulated in the hoisting of the tricolor in PoK, the enactment of the UCC, and the advocacy for ‘One Nation, One Election’. Elaborating further, he pledged that under the BJP’s governance, citizens would continue to avail themselves of complimentary rations for the ensuing five-year tenure.

The assembly witnessed the presence of notable figures including MLA Randhir Singh, local MLA Dr. Shashi Bhushan Mehta, BJP contender Kalicharan Singh, alongside party luminaries Ramdhani Yadav and Lovely Gupta. Additionally, district functionaries such as Amit Tiwari, the district president, and Surendra Vishwakarma, the general secretary, graced the public convocation. Maurya’s arrival at Lesliganj was marked by his aerial descent via helicopter the preceding evening.

The Chatra Lok Sabha constituency is slated for polling during the fifth phase on May 20. The electoral contest features BJP’s Kaicharan Singh vying against Congress’s Krishna Nand Tripathi. Notably, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Sunil Kumar Singh clinched victory, retaining the seat by triumphing over Congress’s Dheeraj Sahu with a tally of 5,28,077 votes.
