In the district of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, a local luminary affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met an untimely demise under ominous circumstances on the morning of Wednesday, as reported by the police on Thursday.
According to a high-ranking law enforcement official, malefactors on motorcycles ostensibly halted the car of Pramod Yadav, the leader of BJP’s Kisan Morcha, around 10 am in the village of Bodhapur within the Sikara area of Jaunpur district, purportedly to deliver a wedding invitation.
Upon intercepting Yadav’s vehicle, the assailants, astride their motorcycles, initiated a barrage of gunfire directed at Pramod Yadav. Subsequently, Yadav was expeditiously transported to a nearby medical facility, where the attending physicians pronounced him deceased upon arrival, disclosed the police official.
An official police statement affirmed the registration of a case invoking pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with ongoing endeavors to apprehend the perpetrators who hastily absconded from the crime scene.
The pronouncement further conveyed that Yadav’s mortal remains had been dispatched for post-mortem examination, and an investigation was in progress. Notably, Pramod Yadav had contested in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, representing the Malhani constituency of Jaunpur on a BJP ticket, opposing Jagriti Singh, the wife of Dhananjay Singh. Despite being the BJP candidate, Jagriti Singh secured victory in the election, with Dhananjay Singh’s spouse securing the third position. Following the 2017 divorce between Jagriti and Dhananjay Singh, the latter entered into his third matrimony with Srikala Reddy.
