In a significant upheaval, the INDIA bloc dealt a substantial blow to the ruling BJP-led NDA, securing 43 seats out of a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, as confirmed by the Election Commission. As per the Election Commission (EC), the outcomes have been announced for all 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP, with the Samajwadi Party (SP) clinching 37 seats and the Congress securing six seats.
The BJP managed to secure 33 seats, with its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) bagging two seats and Apna Dal (Sonelal) securing one seat. Chandrashekhar Azad, the leader of Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) and candidate from Nagina, also emerged victorious in the election.
Rajveer Singh Raju Bhaiya, the BJP candidate and son of the late former chief minister Kalyan Singh, suffered defeat in the Etah Lok Sabha seat, losing to SP candidate Devesh Shakya by a margin of 28,052 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, contesting from Varanasi, triumphed over his Congress rival Ajay Rai.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh (Lucknow), Union Minister Anupriya Patel (Mirzapur), and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary (Maharajganj) emerged victorious in their respective constituencies. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi (Rae Bareli) and SP president Akhilesh Yadav (Kannauj) also secured wins in the election.
Yadav expressed gratitude to the electorate for the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections. In a post on ‘X’, Yadav wrote, “Janmat ko pranam, Janmat ko salam!” (Salutations to the public opinion, Salutations to democracy!)
