The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Rahul Srivastava, has been suspended following allegations of rape, and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him.
The accusations stem from an incident where Srivastava, allegedly using Facebook, lured a UPSC aspirant in 2019 under the pretense of providing study materials. The victim claimed that he drugged and raped her in a hotel, recording the act. Subsequently, she asserted that Srivastava continued to sexually assault her, threatening to make the recorded videos public.
The victim became pregnant, and Srivastava reportedly compelled her to undergo an abortion. When Srivastava’s wife learned of the situation, she, along with others, allegedly pressured the victim to withdraw her police complaint.
Despite the victim filing multiple complaints at the police station, she claims they were not addressed. Seeking justice, she appealed to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Chief Minister, leading to the registration of a case against Srivastava, his wife, and others at the Gomti Nagar extension police station.
Former DGP Vijay Kumar recommended Srivastava’s suspension amid the ongoing investigation into these serious allegations.
