In the vicinity of Noida, located in Uttar Pradesh, the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) undertook the task of gathering samples from an establishment of McDonald’s in Noida Sector 18 and Theobroma bakery in Sector 104, prompted by a grievance from a consumer who purportedly experienced illness after partaking in victuals from these venues, as conveyed by officials on Monday.
The grievances were entered into the Food Safety Connect portal of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), as relayed by officials. The complaint directed at the McDonald’s establishment in Noida Sector 18 pertains to a consumer who reportedly fell unwell subsequent to consuming a burger and french fries procured from the establishment.
In response to the complaint, a contingent from the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA), Gautam Buddh Nagar, promptly took action and made a visit to McDonald’s at Noida Sector 18 to procure the samples.
“We received a complaint through the portal against McDonald’s. The patron felt indisposed after partaking in aloo tikki and french fries. We have initiated measures in this context and obtained samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise…,” articulated Archana Dheeran, Assistant Commissioner (Food) FDA, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
In the subsequent occurrence, an individual fell unwell after indulging in a stale confection acquired from Theobroma bakery in Noida Sector 104. Pursuant to the grievance, a team from FDA collected samples of the confection subsequent to receipt of the complaint.
“In another instance, a complaint was lodged against Theobroma bakery where an individual fell unwell (in Noida) after ingesting stale confection from the bakery…We obtained a sample of the pineapple confection and dispatched it to the laboratory…If the product proves unfavorable in the report, then legal proceedings will ensue,” Dheeran explicated.
She appended that the report is anticipated to materialize within a month, and in the event of the samples demonstrating inadequacy in the report, subsequent steps will be taken, and legal proceedings will be instigated.
