In Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi drew parallels between the Congress and the Muslim League, suggesting that the essence of the Congress’s election manifesto mirrors that of the Muslim League during the independence movement.

Prime Minister Modi asserted that the Congress, a stalwart during the freedom struggle, has long ceased to be relevant. “Numerous luminaries were aligned with the Congress, notably Mahatma Gandhi. However, the contemporary incarnation of the Congress lacks both national interest policies and a forward-looking vision for the nation’s advancement,” Prime Minister Modi articulated.

Addressing a campaign rally in Saharanpur, he critiqued the recently unveiled election manifesto of the Congress, alleging a substantial disconnect between the party’s stance and the present-day aspirations of India.

Expanding his critique, he remarked on the dwindling presence of the Congress, juxtaposing it with the precarious state of the Samajwadi Party, a constituent of the INDI alliance and a key ally of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.

“The predicament faced by the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh necessitates constant candidate reshuffling, yet the plight of the Congress is even more dire. The party struggles to field suitable candidates, even in its traditional strongholds such as Amethi and Rae Bareli,” Prime Minister Modi observed.

He further castigated the INDI alliance, branding it synonymous with instability and unpredictability. “Consequently, the nation regards their pronouncements with incredulity,” he added, alluding to the lack of credibility attributed to the coalition.

Prime Minister Modi took a veiled dig at former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, recalling a previous failed venture involving the duo. “Their attempt at reviving an unsuccessful narrative exemplifies their desperation,” he remarked.

Expressing bewilderment, he questioned the persistence of the INDI alliance’s futile endeavors. “How many more times will they stoke the dormant embers?” he mused.

Both the Congress and the Samajwadi Party had collaborated in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

As per the election calendar, eight parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh are slated to vote in the initial phase of the Lok Sabha polls on April 19, encompassing Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina (SC), Moradabad, Rampur, and Pilibhit. Vote tabulation is scheduled for June 4.
