Amidst the hustle and bustle of Noida, a startling discovery has shaken the calmness—a woman claims to have stumbled upon a centipede nestled inside the confines of an ice-cream tub she eagerly awaited, courtesy of an instant delivery app. The revelation, according to food safety authorities, has spurred an investigation into the matter.
Taking to the digital stage of X on June 15, the woman, going by the name Deepa Devi, shared visual evidence capturing the unwelcome guest within the creamy folds of an Amul India ice cream tub. “The encounter with an unexpected insect lurking within my ice-cold delight from Amul India jolted me to my core. The sanctity of quality control and food safety should forever remain untainted. The FSSAI must heed the clarion call and take resolute legal action against such burgeoning incidents,” she articulated in her post.
The Noida food safety contingent promptly swung into action, swooping down upon the Blinkit’s emporium—the purveyor of instant delights—to procure samples of the contentious ice-cream brand for rigorous examination. “Samples have been meticulously collected and dispatched to the hallowed confines of our laboratory for rigorous scrutiny. We are in the throes of initiating formal proceedings in light of potential contraventions of the Food Safety Act, 2006,” elucidated Chief Food Safety Officer Akshay Goyal in conversation with PTI.
Initiating action on their own volition spurred by the woman’s viral outcry, the food safety department swiftly established contact with Deepa Devi. As per official records, the packaging date emblazoned on the ice-cream tub reads April 15, 2024, with an expiration date of April 15, 2025. “The narrative currently lies ensconced within the realms of investigation. Concrete revelations shall only come to light post-receipt of our laboratory’s verdict,” asserted Goyal. Furthermore, he extended an open invitation to the populace, encouraging them to voice any apprehensions regarding the culinary landscape of Noida and Greater Noida at the food safety department’s bastion located in Surajpur.
