Tragedy strikes the heart as a devastating fire ravages a towering structure in Mangaf city, Kuwait, leaving over 40 Indian souls to perish, plunging their families into inconsolable sorrow. The anguish of loss weighs heavily upon those who mourn, particularly the kin of the departed. Amongst the deceased, three souls hailed from Uttar Pradesh, namely Praveen Madhav Singh of Varanasi, and Jairam Gupta and Angad Gupta of Gorakhpur.

Swift to action, the administration led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath mobilizes, issuing directives to high-ranking officials to liaise with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. While the majority of the departed are from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh too grapples with the loss of three of its own.

In the midst of this tragedy, Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, promptly dispatched to oversee aid efforts for the injured and facilitate the repatriation of the deceased, engages in separate deliberations with Kuwait’s foreign minister, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Al-Sabah, and Health Minister Ahmad Abdelwahab Ahmad Al-Awadi.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in his discourse with his Kuwaiti counterpart, stresses the urgency of repatriation for the departed and ensures adequate medical care for the injured. Meanwhile, Ambassador of India in Kuwait, Adarsh Swaika, conducts on-site evaluations of the incident and hospital facilities to assess the situation, while also establishing a dedicated helpline for families in need of information and assistance.

As the nation grapples with the enormity of this loss, concerted efforts are underway to extend support and succor to the bereaved families.
