In the precincts of Mahabubabad district in Telangana, blind faith has unfurled its tragic consequence. The annals of this district now bear witness to the somber demise of two individuals, ensnared by the tendrils of suspicion and the malevolent specter of sorcery, commonly referred to as black magic.

Per the official narrative woven by the law enforcement, Sivaratri Kumaraswamy, domiciled in Bollepalli, Guduru Mandal, Mahabubabad district, harbored a conviction that the kinfolk of Alakuntla Komaraiah’s family, inhabiting the proximate neighborhood, were clandestinely dabbling in the occult arts of black magic.

His perspective crystallized around the belief that it was the arcane machinations of sorcery that precipitated the demise of his father, Ellaiah, the affliction of his son due to epilepsy, and the gradual deterioration of his wife’s mental well-being. Even the tragic demise of his sister-in-law, attributed to a thunderstorm, found its roots in his attribution to sorcery.

Kumaraswamy found himself embroiled in frequent altercations with Sammakka (60), the wife of Komaraiah, and Sammayya (40), his son. He adamantly accused them of being the architects behind the myriad misfortunes that besieged his household.

The chronicle took a more ominous turn five days prior when Sammayya, while maneuvering an auto in the village, found himself in a harrowing collision with Kumaraswamy, who deliberately placed himself in the path of the vehicle. The aftermath saw Sammayya initiating legal proceedings by filing a formal complaint at the Guduru police station against Kumaraswamy.

Come Tuesday, the saga unfolded at the police station, with Komaraiah, Sammakka, Sammayya, and daughter-in-law Rajitha arriving under the compulsion of police intervention. Not finding a trace of Kumaraswamy, they embarked on their journey homeward in an auto from the police station. However, their progress was abruptly halted by Kumaraswamy, who lay in ambush in Guduru, orchestrating a confrontation wherein he physically assaulted Sammayya.

In the ensuing fracas, Komaraiah, standing beside his beleaguered son, beseeched Kumaraswamy to desist from assaulting Sammayya. However, Swamy, unmoved by entreaties, turned his aggression towards Komaraiah, fracturing his arm in the process. Subsequently, Kumaraswamy, wielding an iron rod, unleashed a brutal assault upon Sammaiah and Sammakka, resulting in their untimely demise.

Rajita, witnessing the carnage, sought refuge behind the auto, gripped by fear. The locals, roused by the gruesome spectacle, apprehended the assailant, binding him to a pole before surrendering him to the custody of the police.

The law enforcement promptly initiated legal proceedings, filing a case and launching a thorough investigation into the tragic sequence of events.
