In a peculiar mishap, a 14-year-old adolescent inflicted a gash upon the neck of his 11-year-old companion while reenacting a religious spectacle, embodying the persona of Goddess Kali in the environs of Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur. Hastily conveyed to a medical facility, the victim’s life ebbed away during the course of treatment. The incident transpired within a hamlet nestled in the jurisdiction of the Bilhaur police station during the nocturnal hours of Wednesday, amidst the enactment of a scene depicting Goddess Kali’s annihilation of a malevolent entity. Subsequently, law enforcement personnel transferred the cadaver for forensic examination, and legal proceedings have been initiated in light of this occurrence.

As per law enforcement sources, a ‘Bhagwad Katha’ session had been convened within the settlement on the aforementioned day. Culminating the gathering was a dramatization featuring local juveniles. A 14-year-old assumed the role of Goddess Kali, while an assemblage of peers portrayed antagonistic entities. Employing a knife during the depiction, the 14-year-old inadvertently lacerated the throat of one of the participants, who collapsed to the ground bearing grievous injuries.

Incensed residents have raised queries regarding the allocation of a blade to the adolescent performer and the apparent lack of intervention upon witnessing his possession thereof. Keshav Tiwari, the officer-in-charge of the Bilhaur police station, has affirmed that inquiries into the matter are ongoing. “The youths were engrossed in theatrical endeavors when the tragic incident unfolded. Despite being expeditiously transported to a medical facility, the afflicted child succumbed to his wounds,” Tiwari remarked.
