Bareilly: A solitary fatality and approximately 50 injuries resulted from a bus’s plummet off a flyover in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district during the predawn hours on Monday, as reported by officials.
The calamitous incident transpired around 3:30 am when the Delhi-origin, Bareilly-bound bus, traveling at excessive velocity, collided with the railings and descended from the Ballia flyover in the Fatehganj West vicinity. Promptly informed, a contingent from the Fatehganj West police station arrived at the scene, transporting the wounded to various medical facilities in Bareilly, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Inspector Dhananjay Pandey of Fatehganj West disclosed that the bus harbored around 70 passengers at the time of the mishap. Initial probes indicated that the vehicle lost command on the Ballia flyover, struck the railings, and toppled onto the service road below, he elucidated.
Subsequently, District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Ghule Sushil Chandra Bhan reached the location. They also inspected the hospitals, inquiring about the injured’s conditions while directing the hospital administration to prioritize their care.
DM Kumar identified the deceased as Prem Kumar (40), a denizen of Daurala in Mator police station’s jurisdiction in Meerut. His kin have been apprised, he mentioned.
Survivors of the ordeal recounted that the bus driver, evidently inebriated, had been driving recklessly for an extended period, contributing to the tragic occurrence.
