In a harrowing vehicular mishap unfolding within the confines of Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur, a grim tableau transpired as a Roadways bus collided with a tractor-trolley ferrying laborers in the Sikara precinct of the district on a fateful Sunday night, claiming six lives and leaving numerous others maimed, as per informed sources.
The tragic incident unfurled its grim tapestry in the vicinity of the Samadhganj market in the late hours of Sunday in the Sikrara domain. The laborers, making their way back from their toils, found themselves entangled in a collision between the tractor-trolley and the Prayagraj to Gorakhpur-bound bus, resulting in the unfortunate demise of no fewer than six toilers. The mishap cast a pall of injuries upon several other laborers.
Detailing the sequence of events, Additional Superintendent of Police Rural, Dr. Shailendra Kumar Singh, conveyed that around 12:30 am on that somber Sunday night, the Roadways bus, operated by UP, collided with the tractor-trolley transporting laborers who had just completed the molding work on a residence and were homeward bound.
The SP expounded that upon receiving prompt notification of the calamity, law enforcement and administrative authorities swiftly descended upon the site, overseeing the retrieval of lifeless bodies and ensuring the transfer of the wounded to the district hospital. The accident occurred in a quiet slumbering village, and upon the resonating cries of the victims, a sizable contingent of villagers assembled to initiate a rescue mission, promptly summoning law enforcement.
Villager accounts intimate that a female passenger aboard the ill-fated bus also sustained injuries in the calamitous occurrence. The departed individuals have been identified as Neeraj Saroj (28) of Alishahpur, Rajesh Saroj (45), Sangram Saroj (25), Chai Musahar (20), Atul Saroj (30) hailing from Veerpalpur, and Govinda Bind (30) from Bathuwawar.
This tragic event unfolded just a day subsequent to another distressing incident where a tractor-trolley ferrying pilgrims careened into a pond in Kasganj district of UP. The toll from this mishap amounted to 24 lives, encompassing 13 women and children.
