Amidst the urban tapestry of Kanpur, a lady, accompanied by a confederate, discharged five rounds of ammunition at a nuptial gathering in the Barra locality of Southern Kanpur on Tuesday. Subsequently, she disseminated a 13-second visual recording of the gunfire on her WhatsApp status, prompting the expeditious arrival of law enforcement, who initiated a comprehensive inquiry.

The veracity of the viral footage is yet to be ascertained by ETV Bharat. DCP South Zone Ravindra Kumar affirmed that the video has been taken into consideration, and the police are diligently probing the incident.

Within the footage, an anthem extolling the virtues of Rajputs resonates in the background, conveying the sentiment: ‘We are integrally connected to the Rajput heritage; if our dignity is impeded, we possess the capacity for lethal action. Jai Bhavani!’. Instances of such firearm discharges have become conspicuous in the district recently, sparking apprehensions regarding the prevailing state of law and order.

As per law enforcement reports, a minor lost his life on February 11 in Uttar Pradesh during a celebratory gunfire episode. This tragic incident unfolded in the Mataundh area of the Banda district. ASP Lakshmi Niwas Mishra conveyed, “Shambhu Shukla, a young lad attending a familial event, succumbed to celebratory gunfire on a Saturday evening.”

In another alarming scenario, three individuals met their demise in broad daylight in Lucknow, within the purview of the Malihabad police station on February 2. Investigations disclosed that the incident stemmed from a territorial dispute, culminating in a barrage of indiscriminate gunfire by the assailants, as stated by police sources.
