Entering into a substantial discourse about the collaboration between Apple and OpenAI, Elon Musk, the tech tycoon, expressed on Tuesday the potentiality of his own X phone in collaboration with Samsung, casting doubt on the integration of ChatGPT into iPhones and other Apple gadgets.
Responding to an X user’s assertion regarding a potential partnership between X and Samsung for the production of an X phone, optimized for the X app, equipped with an open-source operating system (OS), and boasting a direct link to Starlink, Musk remarked that such a scenario is not beyond consideration.
Previously, Musk criticized Apple, labeling it as “patently absurd” for not developing its AI capabilities while entrusting OpenAI with user data, thereby compromising security and privacy. He went on to state that Apple remains oblivious once data is handed over to OpenAI, ultimately betraying user trust.
Apple has yet to issue an official statement addressing Musk’s accusations. Earlier the same day, Musk issued a warning of potentially banning iPhones from his companies due to the inclusion of ChatGPT in Apple’s ecosystem.
In a separate development, Apple announced on Monday that iOS 18 will feature Siri utilizing OpenAI’s ChatGPT for responding to user queries. Musk reiterated on X that any attempt by Apple to integrate OpenAI at the OS level will result in a ban of Apple devices across his enterprises, deeming it an intolerable breach of security.
