Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): A significant rescue operation persisted into its second day on Saturday after a six-year-old child tumbled into an exposed borewell within an agricultural expanse in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa region. Following the incident’s occurrence on Friday afternoon, immediate efforts were launched to liberate the boy.

The incident unfolded in Manika village within the jurisdiction of Janeh police station around 3 p.m. Mayank was engaging in play on the fields with his peers when he unexpectedly slipped into the 60-foot-deep borehole. His playmates rushed to inform his parents, prompting family and neighbors to race to the scene.

Upon receiving word of the occurrence, a rescue unit, alongside law enforcement and district officials, arrived at the location. Swift arrangements were made to provide oxygen to the boy within the borewell shaft, ensuring he could breathe unimpeded. A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team, including medical professionals, joined the operation.

The rescue team deployed a JCB excavator to dig a parallel borewell to the one where the child was trapped. As per a senior official from the Janeh police station, all efforts are being directed toward the safe retrieval of the child. He mentioned that the SDRF, police, and district administration are coordinating to hasten the extraction process.
