The highly anticipated saga of athleticism, “Mr & Mrs Mahi,” featuring the stellar duo of Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is poised for its grand debut on the silver screen this month. As the premiere draws near, the creators unveiled the inaugural musical composition from the motion picture, christened “Dekha Tenu,” on Wednesday. The unveiling event witnessed the presence of the principal actors, who divulged their sentiments on the melodious ode to romance.

When probed regarding their initial response to the musical piece, Rajkummar Rao divulged that both he and Janhvi were instantaneously enamored by it. “Our hearts were captivated from the outset. We formed an instantaneous connection with the melody, deeming it exquisitely crafted,” he articulated. Professing his ardent admiration for Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkummar Rao conveyed his reverence for the composition, a contemporary rendition of the timeless harmony from the song “Shava Shava” in “Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham.” He extended his felicitations to the composers of the song, Jaani and Mohammad Faiz, for their stellar craftsmanship.

Janhvi remarked, “Initially, this musical piece was not part of our cinematic journey during the filming process, and we would often view the edited visuals sans any musical accompaniment.” However, upon its introduction by director Sharan Sharma, she noted its seamless integration with the visual narrative, enriching the cinematic experience. She extolled Faiz’s soul-stirring vocals and Jaani’s profound lyrics, which have culminated in an opus of timeless allure. Janhvi perceives the composition as a magnum opus, lauding its capacity to evoke profound sentiments.

The composition “Dekha Tenu” serves as a lyrical exploration of the on-screen dynamics between the characters portrayed by Janhvi and Rajkummar. Infused with fresh lyrical content penned by Jaani and vocalized by Mohammad Faiz, the composition represents a contemporary reinterpretation of the original musical motif. Retaining snippets from the erstwhile melody, the composition evokes a blend of nostalgia and contemporaneity.

In “Mr & Mrs Mahi,” Janhvi Kapoor assumes the role of a medical practitioner encouraged by her spouse, Rajkummar Rao, to pursue the sport of cricket. Paying homage to the iconic cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, fondly referred to as Mahi, the film seeks to honor his enduring legacy. Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 31, the movie aspires to commemorate the indelible imprint left by the cricketing maestro.
