India has set forth a significant aspiration to dispatch an astronaut to the lunar surface by the year 2040, as proclaimed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. He has issued a comprehensive directive to the country’s space agency, outlining an ambitious blueprint, which also incorporates the establishment of a space station by the year 2035.

India’s space exploration endeavors received a considerable boost when it achieved the remarkable distinction of being the inaugural nation to successfully land a spacecraft near the uncharted southern pole of the moon in August. This feat was particularly noteworthy as it occurred shortly after a similar Russian mission ended in failure. It also marked India as only the fourth nation globally to achieve a gentle lunar landing.

Following this noteworthy achievement, India embarked on a mission to scrutinize the sun through the launch of a rocket. In the coming days, a test is scheduled as part of India’s manned space mission. Prime Minister Modi has articulated a renewed vision, emphasizing that India should now set its sights on fresh and ambitious objectives.

This includes the establishment of the ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station,’ also known as the Indian Space Station, by the year 2035. Furthermore, it encompasses the ambitious goal of sending the first Indian astronaut to the moon by 2040.
