In Washington, it has been highlighted that India, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has witnessed remarkable strides, transitioning from its former status as the world’s 10th largest economy to an imminent ascent to the third position. This assertion comes from a prominent Indian American Congressman who underscores a burgeoning digital revolution as a catalyst for India’s metamorphosis.
Reflecting on India’s trajectory over the past decade, the Congressman expressed awe at the significant leaps the nation has made. “When Prime Minister Modi assumed office, India languished as the 10th largest global economy. However, it swiftly climbed to the fifth position and is poised to soon claim the third spot,” he remarked in an interview with PTI.
Representing Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, the 69-year-old Congressman enjoys widespread popularity among Indian Americans nationwide. Proficient in Marathi, he actively engages with various Indian American communities during his travels across the United States. His recent visit to India was part of a Congressional delegation last August.
Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, the Congressman emphasized the nation’s youthful population as a key asset. “India’s demographic profile is dominated by its vibrant youth, surpassing most nations in terms of percentage. This demographic dividend underscores India’s strength,” he noted.
Furthermore, he lauded India’s embrace of technology, noting the widespread digitalization permeating financial and banking systems even in rural areas. “The digital revolution sweeping across India is both transformative and inclusive, reaching the hinterlands and hinterlands alike,” he observed.
Expressing admiration for India’s global influence, the Congressman asserted that India’s significance cannot be disregarded, even by the United States. “India commands respect and recognition on the global stage, and it’s imperative for the U.S. to acknowledge India’s capabilities and potential,” he emphasized.
Commenting on the burgeoning camaraderie between President Biden and Prime Minister Modi, the Congressman highlighted the strengthening ties between the two nations. “During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the White House, the camaraderie between him and President Biden was palpable, indicative of a robust partnership,” he remarked.
However, the Congressman stressed the need for further strengthening bilateral ties, urging India to align more closely with the United States. “India must repose greater trust and faith in its friendship with the United States, fostering deeper collaboration in defense, technology, and commerce,” he suggested.
Concluding on an optimistic note, the Congressman affirmed the existing strong relationship between the two nations while advocating for enhanced cooperation. “While our relationship is robust, there’s immense potential for growth and collaboration. We must strive to become stronger allies, fostering greater synergy in defense, technology, and commerce,” he concluded.
