Authorities from the Peel Regional Police, in a communication issued on Friday, revealed their collaboration with the coroner’s office in the identification of the mortal remains. Rajiv Warikoo, of Kashmiri Pandit descent, had reportedly held the post of Director within the Business Services Branch at the Ontario Ministry of Health, as per his LinkedIn profile.
Reports indicate that emergency services received notification around 1:30 p.m. on March 7, summoning them to the vicinity of Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive, where they encountered a residence engulfed by flames. Subsequent scrutiny of the scene led investigators to discover what appeared to be human remains within the premises.
The Peel Regional Police are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the blaze. This tragedy echoes a similar incident from the previous month, wherein a family of Indian origin met their demise within their Californian apartment. The family, comprising four members—Anand Sujith Henry, his spouse Alice Priyanka, and their twin offspring, Noah and Neithan—was tragically laid to rest.
