Amidst the prolonged Israel-Hamas conflict, President Joe Biden expressed the current hostage deal’s fate residing within the hands of Hamas. He conveyed that a rational offer had been presented, and the outcome would manifest in a couple of days. The President, en route Air Force One in Maryland, stated, “The hostage deal is in the hands of Hamas right now… there’s been a rational offer. The Israelis have agreed to it… We’ll know in a couple of days if it’s going to happen.”
Highlighting the urgency of a ceasefire to avert peril during Ramadan, Biden emphasized the potential danger for Israel and Jerusalem if the conflict persists. Responding to queries about his recent interactions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden asserted that the relationship remained unchanged.
When questioned about efforts to facilitate more aid into Gaza, Biden reiterated his commitment, stating, “I’m working with them very hard… We must get more aid into Gaza. There are no excuses. None.”
Originating from an October 7 attack by Hamas, the Gaza conflict intensified with approximately 2,500 militants breaching the Israeli border, resulting in casualties and hostage incidents. Israel framed its Gaza offensive as targeting Hamas’ infrastructure to dismantle the entire terror group while striving to minimize civilian casualties.
Presently, hostilities persist in Gaza, with the Israeli Defence Forces claiming the elimination of Islamic Jihad terrorists firing rockets towards Kibbutz Be’eri and Kibbutz Hatzerim. Employing snipers, tanks, and aerial firepower, fifteen terrorists were neutralized. Additionally, IDF operations targeted terrorists within civilian areas in Western Khan Younis.
In the intricate dynamics of the situation, President Biden’s words underscore the delicate balance and ongoing diplomatic efforts to navigate through the complexities of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
