Republican candidate Nikki Haley running for the post of the US President has said that India does not trust US to lead and played smart by staying close with Russia.
Washington, D.C., February 8 (PTI): Nikki Haley, an aspirant seeking the Republican nomination for the presidency, articulated on Wednesday that India expresses a desire to establish a collaborative relationship with the United States, albeit with a current lack of confidence in American leadership.
The Indian-American contender for the presidency further asserted that New Delhi has exhibited astuteness in navigating the current global milieu and has maintained close ties with Russia.
During an interview with Fox Business News, the 51-year-old Haley remarked that India currently perceives the United States as exhibiting weakness.
“I have engaged in discussions with India as well. I must express that I have engaged with India as well. Conversations with Prime Minister Modi have taken place. India desires a partnership with us. They do not seek alignment with Russia,” she remarked.
“The dilemma lies in the fact that India lacks faith in our ability to triumph. They do not trust us to guide. Presently, they discern our vulnerability. India has consistently exercised sagacity. They have adeptly managed their relations and have maintained proximity to Russia, as they procure a substantial portion of their military arsenal from them,” she expounded in response to an inquiry.
“When we reassert our leadership, when we eradicate our vulnerabilities and desist from ignoring reality, at that juncture, our allies, such as India, Australia, New Zealand, as well as Israel, Japan, and South Korea, all of them will extend their support. Japan allocated a billion-dollar stimulus to diminish their reliance on China,” Haley articulated.
“India also allocated a billion-dollar stimulus to curtail their dependence on China,” she conveyed to Fox Business News, emphasizing the imperative for the United States to fortify its alliances.
Haley remarked on China’s faltering economic state and its preparations for potential conflict with the United States. “Economically, China is experiencing adversity. There is a noticeable increase in government control. They have been gearing up for a confrontation with us for years. This is their misjudgment.”
