Amid the diplomatic discourse in Tehran, Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, vehemently rebuffed assertions made by US officials regarding the cosmic collaboration between Tehran and Moscow, dismissing them as groundless.

Kanaani’s retort was prompted by the declarations of Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US State Department, who characterized the recent launch of an Iranian satellite by Russia as “yet another manifestation of the deepening military alliance” between the two nations—a development he deemed “detrimental to Ukraine, Iran’s neighboring nations, and the global community.”

Addressing reporters during a routine press briefing in Tehran on Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson asserted that the defense and military partnerships forged between Iran and Russia were firmly anchored in international statutes and the mutual interests of the two countries, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

“In accordance with international regulations and laws, nations have the prerogative to collaborate. We unreservedly reject the allegations put forth by US authorities, deeming them unsubstantiated,” Kanaani emphatically stated.

He further underscored that such collaboration would persist within its established parameters and posed no threat to any external party. Notably, Iran achieved a milestone on Thursday by successfully deploying a domestically engineered satellite, named Pars-1, into a 500-km orbit using a Soyuz rocket launched in the eastern reaches of Russia.
