Amidst the political realm of Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, BJP’s legislator, Aditi Singh, has voiced accusations against Congress’ General Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi, asserting attempts to besmirch her reputation subsequent to her transition to the saffron party.
During a discourse with the news agency ANI, Aditi Singh proclaimed that Priyanka Gandhi exerted pressure on her former spouse, Angad Singh, to tarnish her integrity. “Priyanka conveyed to Angad that his adherence to this would secure him a Congress ticket,” Aditi Singh alleged.
Originating her political journey within the confines of Congress in Rae Bareli, Aditi Singh eventually aligned herself with BJP, thereby concluding her matrimonial ties with Angad Singh, a denizen of Punjab, and erstwhile MLA representing the Nawanshahr constituency. Angad Singh ascended to the role of MLA in 2017 under the aegis of the Congress party.
Aditi contended that during the allocation of electoral tickets in Punjab, Priyanka Gandhi presented Angad with a stipulation requiring him to levy accusations against her character. “The allotment of the ticket hinges on the fulfillment of this provision. An endeavor was made to coerce my former spouse into making disparaging remarks against me,” asseverated the BJP legislator.
Hailing from a lineage deeply entrenched in the political sphere, Aditi Singh, daughter of the late Akhilesh Singh, a five-time MLA from Rae Bareli, has now secured her second term as an MLA. Conversely, Angad Singh traces his familial lineage to a political legacy, with his grandfather, Dilbag Singh, serving as MLA of Nawanshahr for six terms. His parents, Prakash Singh and Garikbal Kaur, each held the position of MLA once.
As of now, Priyanka Gandhi is yet to issue a response to the accusations put forth by Aditi Singh.
